I'm often asked what are my favourite venues to work at, so here is a list of my favourite wedding venues in Derbyshire & The Peak District.
As a professional wedding photographer I know that finding the right venue is an important part of your big day - you want somewhere that makes the occasion itself memorable; but, you also want somewhere that is going to look great in your wedding album for years to come.
For people who are planning a wedding in Derbyshire & The Peak District, I thought it would be useful to put together a list of my favourite venues to help you make your decision.
For each venue I've tried to explain why I like from a professional perspective, but also what makes it a great venue in general.
This very exclusive Derbyshire boutique hotel offers incredible views over the Peak District. Win Hill sits majestically in plain sight of the venue and presents an exciting and rewarding challenge for brides and grooms who are prepared to tackle a steep climb in search of the perfect photograph! Beautiful in every season, there's plenty of outdoor space to act as a stunning wedding backdrop.
An estate renowned nationwide for its impressive grounds and sculpture park, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire is just a short drive away from Bakewell and plenty of other quaint Peak District towns. They offer three weddings options; a full-scale traditional wedding, an event more suitable for an intimate gathering and a budget package that offers afternoon tea only. Be sure to book yourself in for a look around. You’ll be pleased you did.
You can have both your marriage ceremony and reception here at the grand Hassop Hall Hotel. The venue caters for large and small weddings with lunch or dinner. Beautiful gardens with fountains and intricate walkways outside the hall provide plenty of romantic backdrops for your wedding photography. The interior to the hall is none too shabby either. Having photographed weddings here before I know all the best angles from which to create great wedding shots.
This 19th century manor house is now a luxurious spa hotel. Situated in the gateway of the Peak District, it's easily accessible to those coming from Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. As a 2016 winner of a prestigious wedding industry award, his venue offers both manicured lawns and wild woodland as a setting for your photos. This centrally located Peak District boutique hotel boasts an impressive interior with chandeliers, ornate windows and a display of local art. It’s quirky and fun, without compromising on style. The food here has won awards and if an award for local beauty spots were possible, The Maynard would surely win one, thanks to its proximity to Padley Gorge, a great setting for a few photos.
