Woodthorpe Hall, Holmesfield, Derbyshire - Tori & James

Posted on 9th September 2015 by Mark Tierney

Some weddings really stand out from the crowd visually and the wedding of James and Tori at Woodthorpe Hall in Derbyshire was just such an occasion. Their imaginative colour scheme of pastel greens and pinks, together with the creative way in which was displayed, made for a stunning Cath Kidston-esque backdrop.

But of course a marriage is not just about how much the photographer appreciates the incredible attention to detail paid to every tiny feature. It's mainly about two people announcing their love and commitment to one another in front of everyone they hold dear, in an outside setting, as they pray for it not to rain! It didn't rain, but had it tried, the venue had it covered, quite literally, with a canopy for the guests and the roof of a stone structure for the bride and groom.

It was a beautiful ceremony, full of big smiles and warm hearts, along with the odd tear. Afterwards the guests were treated to canapés, a drinks tent and a great performance from the wedding singer entertainment. Guests played croquet and giant Jenga, while I took photos of the newlyweds and their daughter.

We managed to squeeze in a few more photos after the ceremony in order to catch the sunset. Tori and James agreed to walk through the long grass with me and we reached a field full of yurts, which looked like pyramids, when silhouetted. I'd like to give my congratulations once again to the happy couple. It was a joyful day full of love, laughter and picturesque surroundings.
