Twelve years ago, I photographed Martyn & Sue’s wedding. That job led to this one. Jess is Martyn’s daughter. That’s the beautiful thing about what I do — it weaves through families, history, and time. One moment you're shooting the dad’s wedding, and then, over a decade later, you're there as his daughter steps into her dress with her bridesmaids doubled over in laughter. That kind of connection doesn’t happen by accident - same family, different chapter, same trust.
The venue? Hodsock Priory. Timeless, elegant, and full of stories — and on this day, it came alive. Jess was a force in that dress. No nerves, just laughter that filled the walls. Her bridesmaids? Crying, laughing, buzzing. The energy in that room was untouchable.
After a heartfelt ceremony came the chaos — a proper mini golf course on the lawn, with guests taking it far too seriously (in the best way).
And then… the ducks. Tiny plastic ones, hidden everywhere. Post-speeches, it turned feral. Mainly women, heels off, tearing round like headless chickens in full-on treasure hunt mode. It was carnage. And it was class.
Later, the lights dipped, and Jess & Rob danced in the dark — caught in a single spotlight, wrapped in flare and shadow. A moment just for them.
This wedding wasn’t about ticking boxes or matching Pinterest boards. It was about history — their families, their stories, and the continuation of something I’d started documenting over a decade ago. It was about laughter that echoed off old walls, plastic ducks tucked behind bookshelves, and dancing until your shoes gave in.
Jess & Rob didn’t just get married. They threw the kind of wedding that people feel long after the last drink is poured.
And I got to witness it all.
Thanks to my mate Chris Thornton for 2nd shooting for me.
