Some weddings are perfectly planned. Others are perfectly them. Rach and Pete’s big day at Kelham Island Museum was both. Now, I’ve shot a lot of weddings — and this place never gets old. One of my favourite venues, with its brick-and-steel backdrop, Sheffield grit, and enough industrial heritage to fill a dozen history books. But when you throw in two people like Rach and Pete? The whole thing just comes to life. The ceremony itself had its moment — or more like the moment. The one everyone talks about later. Just as they were about to seal the deal with a kiss… Rach ducked it. Classic fake-out. You could hear the whole room burst into laughter. Pete took it like a champ, and don’t worry — she gave in eventually and let him have his kiss. Totally worth the wait. After they were officially married (and Pete had recovered), we wandered around Kelham for some laid-back portraits. You can’t beat that backdrop — red brick, steel staircases, neon signs, and even the Bessemer Converter. It’s a photographer’s playground. These two were effortless together — laughing, chatting, soaking it all in. No stiff poses, just the good stuff. Back inside, the venue had been styled beautifully by Wild Wedding Days. Think warm fairy lights, colourful paper lanterns, long tables full of wildflowers, and a vibe that felt somewhere between urban and magical. The wedding breakfast was served up by PJ Taste, who always deliver. Local, seasonal food — plated to perfection and absolutely delicious. Then came the speeches — and I mean, wow. Rach's speech will go down as one of the funniest I’ve ever heard. No clichés, just raw honesty and cracking humour. Everyone was in stitches, including Pete, who looked like he was laughing and falling in love all over again. The rest of the night? A blur of dancing, live music, and happy chaos. You could tell their friends and family had waited a long time to party — and they made it count.
Massive congrats to Rach and Pete for throwing a wedding that was full of character, laughs, and just the right amount of mischief. You made Kelham Island look even better than usual.
