Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield - Hannah & Martyn

Posted on 1st November 2021 by Mark Tierney

Hannah and Martyn’s beautiful wedding was held at Whirlowbrook Hall, in Sheffield, at the peak of Summer. Stylish in a bow tie and braces, Martyn waited patiently for his bride, Hannah, to descend the stairs and enter the ceremony room. It was an emotional moment, which became all the more poignant as Hannah walked up the aisle, and the couple exchanged their vows.
It was clear that Hannah and her family were carrying in their hearts the memories of those who couldn’t be there, but this didn’t detract from the joy of the occasion. It was a happy and fun day, filled with touching little moments.

After the ceremony, I took some reportage style photos outside, as well as some posed family portraits, using the beautiful lawns as a backdrop. Then the bride and groom accompanied me for a little stroll to the pagoda and the meadows for some newlywed portraits.

A little later, the guests enjoyed the wedding meal, which included some emotional family speeches, and a best man’s speech that comically raised a few eyebrows, as well as glasses. It was an enjoyable evening that bestowed on the guests an atmosphere of great connection and contentment.

The day was so hot that the guests could mill around outside until late in the evening, without feeling a chill. So, as it got dark, and just before the cake-cutting led us into the disco, we took a few more groom and bride portraits in the woods, under the shadows of the trees. It was a fittingly beautiful end to a beautiful day. I’d like to wish Hannah and Martyn all the very best!
