Holly and Heats’ wedding day was nothing short of a winter sports lover’s dream. The couple, who first met at Sheffield’s Ski Village in their teens, brought their shared love of skiing to life on their special day, adding unique touches that made the celebration truly their own.
The ceremony took place at St John’s Church in Ridgeway, Sheffield, where ski boots replaced traditional vases, holding beautiful floral arrangements that lined the aisle. After exchanging their vows, Holly and Heats walked under a ski arch held by friends, a nod to the sport that brought them together all those years ago. A confetti line-up followed, creating a perfect photo opportunity as the newlyweds celebrated with their guests.
After the ceremony, the couple spent a few moments in Holly’s parents' garden for some portraits with their family dog - Daisy, adding a personal touch to their day. The reception took place at the picturesque Woodthorpe Hall in Holmesfield, where guests enjoyed Pimm’s and took in the stunning scenery as they explored the grounds under the warm afternoon sun.
One of the day’s highlights was the log-cutting ceremony, a Swiss/Dutch tradition symbolizing the couple’s ability to work together. Holly’s godfather, Jack, introduced the tradition, and he and his wife had done the same at their wedding. It was a memorable moment that showcased the couple’s bond and teamwork.
As the evening light softened, Holly and Heats took a stroll through the nearby fields, capturing some beautiful sunset portraits. The night ended with a choreographed first dance that wowed their guests, quickly followed by a lively party complete with a live band, ensuring that everyone danced the night away.
Holly and Heats' wedding day was filled with personal touches and beautiful moments, but the story of the evening's band is a real standout. Heats’ old trumpet music teacher, Ross Simpson, plays in the band, and after their set, the couple had a surprise in store. Late into the night, Ross invited both Holly and Heats up on stage for a surprise performance of Dancing in the Dark—Heats playing trumpet and Holly on kazoo! The crowd loved it, and it was such a unique and personal moment that truly captured the spirit of their wedding.
Congratulations to Holly and Heats on their unforgettable wedding day! May your future together be filled with love, adventure, and many more skiing trips!
