Some of the very best weddings are well worth waiting for. Did Antony know he’d be marrying Amy in 9 year’s time when they went to a Kasabian gig? (He bought a Kasabian gig photo from me taken at Doncaster Dome) I’m not sure. He started following me on social media then - so perhaps!
However, one thing I’m sure of - He certainly didn’t know his big day, when it finally came round, would be postponed due to a worldwide pandemic! That bit no one expected. But here we are.
Antony and Amy’s covid-delayed marriage finally took place this year at Leeds Civic Hall and it was a glorious triumph of a day, which celebrated love, laughter, and live music, all at once!
We had a second shooter for the day, my friend Chris, who captured the groom prep. Who says women should have all the pre-wedding fun, eh?! Both parties walked across town to get to the venue, and the excitement level was high. We took a few shots on the way.
Then on to the ceremony, under the picturesque arch, for the vows. The crowd were all delighted. As were the couple themselves. It was a memorable, and heart-warming exchange.
Afterwards, once the confetti had been thrown, I took the newlyweds for a walk around the city. We found some great urban backgrounds for the bride and groom portraits; under bridges, and against walls.
Back at the reception venue, at the Left Bank, once the giant Jenga had been dealt with, friends and family enjoyed a meal, touching speeches, and an evening of hugely enjoyable entertainment. Amy's brother was the guitarist in the band, who were excellent.
This was such a fun wedding to shoot that was later than expected. Huge congrats to the happy couple, Amy and Antony!
