Debbie and James's Goldsborough Hall wedding in North Yorkshire last Summer was a flower feast of a day, with roses of all different varieties playing a major role in the festivities. They were included in the table decorations of the venue’s beautifully elegant ceremony room, in the bouquets carried by the bride and her attendants, and in the confetti thrown over the newlyweds as they emerged as husband and wife. But that’s not all. They were also growing in huge quantities in and amongst the hedges of the surrounding lawns and pathways, looking stunning, as if they’d sprung to peak bloomage in anticipation of reflecting the bride and groom’s warmth and happiness of their special day.
After a very moving exchange of vows, I took some photos of James and Debbie outside, alongside their friends and family. There was then enough time to capture some bride and groom portraits while the guests had drinks and played croquet. In the bright sunshine, the flowers, the fountains, and the botanical house made the perfect backdrops. I took more bride and groom portraits a bit later, when the sun was hanging lower in the sky, and everyone had enjoyed a meal and some very heartfelt speeches.
The celebration continued long into the night with the dance floor packed for many hours. It was clear a good time was had by all who attended. I’d like to raise a glass to Debbie and James and wish them all the best. I don’t think there was a second where they stopped smiling.
