Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield - Abi & Grant

Posted on 12th March 2019 by Mark Tierney

Abi and Grant’s wedding was a fun and beautiful rustic affair in the Peak District. It was full of pastoral scenes, children having fun, and plenty of laughter.

The marriage ceremony itself took place at Handsworth Church, a grand building with a very long aisle, which only enhanced the drama of the bride’s entrance. Abi arrived in a vintage car and followed her flower girls up to the altar. Bride and groom then exchanged shy, smiling glances at one another, along with their vows. It was very touching.

After receiving congratulations from friends and family, the newlyweds enjoyed a glass of champagne in the back of the car before heading off to their reception venue, Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield.

I took a few photos of everyone relaxing as they had drinks and canapés to the accompaniment of a string duet on the balcony, which was then followed by some posed family portraits on the lawns.

For the bride and groom portraits we ventured into the heart of the Peak District and Padley Gorge. When the sun started to set later, the sky was dramatically lit and we found some great woodland settings, such as the rickety wooden bridge over the stream.

Back at the venue, Abi and Grant enjoyed a hearty wedding meal with their loved ones, we heard some emotional speeches and the enormous cake was cut. Then it was time for the disco and some roulette wheel fun. The kids (and adults) all loved the sweets table!

It was a perfect country wedding, full of quaint charm and ornate attention to detail. I’d like to offer my congratulations to Abi and Grant and wish them all the very best!
