You know whether or not a wedding is going to be particularly special or not upon first meeting the couple involved. It seemed obvious to me that Erica and Rick were going to have a memorable and extremely fun wedding from the outset. They're both such good sports!
Despite initial dramatic skies, which meant not only that the family portraits (taken following the very moving marriage ceremony) had a foreboding backdrop, but also that a white bridal umbrella was required to keep the rain off the newlyweds when we went for a walk into the Derbyshire hills. We were looking to get some shots of them on their own.
The grass on Winnats Pass was a bit slippery, but supporting one another Erica and Rick made it onto and down from a high ridge in one piece, just! The resulting romantic photos will be a reminder not just of the big day, but also the laugh we had exploring the local landscape.
It didn't take us long however, as the bride and groom were conscious of the fact that their guests were waiting for them back at the venue; Losehill House, in order to begin the wedding breakfast.
After food and some elegant speeches, the sun decided to make an appearance. This seemed a better point in the day for the guests to form two lines and throw their confetti! Some more bride and groom portraits were taken in the late sunshine and then it was time to get the evening celebrations underway.
The guests were joined by a band who filled the dance floor with their own versions of classic hits and it was clear a great time had been enjoyed by all. I'd like to thank the newlyweds for humouring me as we clambered up the dramatic Winnats Pass. I think the photographs we got were worth it. The looks on their faces said everything about how they feel about one another. I'd like to raise a glass to the happy couple and wish them all the best!
