There are some weddings that nature simply smiles upon and this was certainly the case with Gayle and James. The couple got married at Losehill House Hotel in the Peak District and experienced warm, bright sunshine from early morning until late at night. It was such a pleasant day, that sunglasses and even battery-operated fans were needed throughout.
The ceremony was held in a bright, airy room, decked out in simple, stylish bunting. We all watched as Gayle and James exchanged smiles and rings before joining them in the beautiful grounds afterwards to help them celebrate becoming husband and wife.
While the canapés were in full flow, I took the opportunity to get a few posed family portraits, before heading off down the picturesque woodland path, with the newlyweds, to get some shots of them on their own. We were surrounded by lush green foliage, grazing sheep and even a cow with very impressive horns.
Back at the reception the guests enjoyed a meal, dipped into the colourful macaroon favours and laughed at the heartily entertaining speeches. As this wedding was right in the heart of summer, with extended daylight hours, it was bright enough for us to take an evening climb up Winnat's Pass, where the combined shadows and sun made for a dramatic Derbyshire backdrop. Thanks to Gayle and James for braving the steep walk in their walking boots!
Following our detour up the hill, we returned to cut the cake; a towering multilayered sponge, as well as dance the night away to the band. The sunshine clung on to the day for as long as it could and some of the images captured at the end of the night look like they were taken a lot earlier. I would like to wish James and Gayle all the very best in their future together. If the joyful atmosphere of their beautiful, summer wedding is anything to go by, I think they'll be very happy together. All the very best!
