Laughton en le Morthen Church & Ye Olde Bell - Chloe & Mike

Posted on 4th April 2019 by Mark Tierney

Laughton en le Mothern Church is a beautiful old stone church in Rotherham and it was here that Chloe and Mike had their very moving Christmas time marriage ceremony. The bride arrived in style, in a vintage car with plenty of bridesmaids in tow. This was particularly handy as the weather wasn’t the best and it was all hands on deck to keep the dress off the wet ground.

After the couple had tied the knot they headed outside to be congratulated by everyone present and then on to the reception venue, which was Ye Olde Bell in Retford. Before we left however, the rain held off long enough for us to get some great bride and groom portraits in nearby fields and on the path that leads to the church, capturing its impressive spire in the background.

At the reception, everyone was exceptionally well catered for and the children (along with their parents) loved their thoughtfully packed bags of toys, to keep them busy while the adults chatted. The speeches were funny and it was very touching to see the newlyweds giggling together.

Following the meal, we got a few photos of the December sun hanging very low in the sky, before it got really dark and the lamps started to cast a cosy light against the walls, adding to the romantic mood of the day.

The newlyweds cut their cake and took to the dance floor for the first dance. This was when they were surprised by two friends taking to the stage to sing a song. It was very well received. Chloe and Mike had obviously not been expecting it to happen and were very emotional. Following that, the children present, who had all been itching to see who could have a flossing-the-fastest competition led the dancing.

It was a spectacularly festive wedding, full of love and unexpected treats. I was honoured to be part of it and would like to raise a glass to the bride and groom. Chloe and Michael; wishing you all the very best.
