Beth and Alex’s beautifully floral festival-style wedding took place in the late summer sunlight of the Ecclesall Woods Discovery Centre in Sheffield. In among the blackberries and toadstools, as well as the superbly shaped wooden buildings, the couple tied the knot under a stretched canvas adorned with hundreds of fairy lights.
The bridesmaids walked up the aisle first; the aisle consisting of a bridge leading to the ceremony venue. Then Beth approached with her mother. What followed was one of the smiliest ceremonies I’ve ever been privileged enough to witness and a moment of jeopardy! For a minute, we all wondered whether Alex’s ring finger had changed shape since the fitting, but Beth got there in the end and the betrothal was complete.
To line the path, upon which the newlyweds would make their exit, a senior appointed flower ‘girl’ scattered petals on the ground and then it was time for celebrations and trays of delicious finger food.
I took a few posed photos of the bride, with and without her attendants, the groom and his family, as well as plenty of other variations, including a group shot of everyone there. Those not included in the immediate photographs enjoyed mini basketball and drinks.
There were some really moving speeches outside in the sun after that, followed by pizzas on the picnic tables. After that I was able to steal Alex and Beth away for some bride and groom portraits in the dappled light of the woods, before the sun got much lower in the sky.
As the night wore on there was much merriment; laughing and dancing, with the mini basketball proving competitively popular until late into the night!
This was a special wedding, for a couple who seem wonderfully at ease in one another’s company, as well as being happy at having so many of their friends and family nearby. I’d like to raise a toast in the direction of Alex and Beth and wish this wonderful pair a well deserved long and happy life together.
