Upper Chapel & Kelham Island Museum - Shelley & Tony

Posted on 14th December 2015 by Mark Tierney

Shelly and Tony’s wedding was made in Sheffield with a lot of love, a lot of balloons and a lot of surprise singers! Little did Tony know when he woke up on the morning of this marriage, he would be serenaded by three different sets of singers and musicians throughout the course of the day. The first set even included his wife, during the ceremony!

Despite appearing quite chaotic, everything at this wedding was firmly under control. Disney ‘up’ style balloons attached to the church pews? Check! Fabulous bridal entrance? Check! Everyone thoroughly moved by the vows? Check! I have to admit it was a particularly moving ceremony and when it was over, and the couple had taken the first steps together as husband and wife, Owls fan, Tony, was treated to his second serenade of the day. Waiting for the newlyweds outside the church was the England supporter and Sheffield Wednesday band!

I did manage to steal the bride and groom away at this point to take some shots of just the two of them around the city. Our walk ended just as the sky turned a glorious shade of pink and it was time for the reception, which was held at the Kelham Island Museum. There was plenty of cake and the sticks of rock favours went down well too.

Following the speeches, the celebrations were enhanced by a surprise mariachi band, who stayed to lead the newlyweds in the first dance.

Before that happened though, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to get a few more couple shots out and about in the museum. It provided a very picturesque, industrial backdrop with a warm glow. This was a wedding which really stood out as being memorable. I’d like to raise a glass of bubbly to Tony and Shelly and wish them all the very best.

Thanks to Catherine at Eyecapture Photography who photographed Tony in the morning.
