Amanda and Mark were married on a gloriously bright day in the sleepy West Yorkshire village of Ripponden. Ripponden Church made for a very grand venue and the couple's guests were treated to a moving ceremony, made all the more special by a hug shared by the bride and groom at the altar. A kiss wouldn't suffice. They simply couldn't hide their joy at sharing their vows and needed to be closer. I think quite a few people might have shed a little tear at that point.
The reception followed at the Fleece Countryside Inn, with the newlyweds arriving in style in an AC cobra! After a short while spent greeting their guests in the sunshine of the terrace, I stole Amanda and Mark away for some couple shots. Amanda managed to scale the Dales impressively easily in her heels and the sun shone down with extra vigour. We returned to the reception venue after the photos to enjoy the meal, the cakes and the dancing.
A special mention is required for the wedding attendants, who played an enormously important role on the day and did so with devotion. Amanda's daughter Megan sang beautifully after the wedding ceremony and during the first dance. The best man, looking not quite as fabulous during the speeches, donned a wig and false teeth along with the groom and performed a skit that had everybody crying with laughter.
As the evening grew late,, the guests piled onto the dance floor to sway to the band music, watch the newly wed's polished moves and generally enjoy the happy atmosphere of the day. I'd like to raise a glass of Pimms to Amanda and Mark, who make a wonderful couple.
