Wentworth Woodhouse Wedding - Lauren & Tom

Posted on 12th February 2018 by Mark Tierney

There’s something magical about a Christmas wedding in Yorkshire. The setting for Lauren and Tom’s festive big day was the impressively grand Wentworth Woodhouse and the weather held out long enough for a shy winter sun to light up the extensive grounds. Yes, there was a chill in the air, but that only served to make the tinsel laden interior of the venue all the more cosy.

As the bride made her way to the Low Drawing Room for the ceremony, down the wide staircase and through the halls, it became more and more obvious what a uniquely stylish backdrop this was. Tying the knot in front of a packed room, the exchange of vows was full of laughter and emotion. A special mention must be made of the tiny ring bearer, who did such a great job!

Following the marriage, we took a few photos in the Marble Saloon, which was beautifully lit with up lighters, before heading outside for some photos with the couple’s dog. There was also time for some posed family portraits, before the sun started to set (early because of the short days of the season) and Lauren, Tom and I went outside to get some bride and groom photos against the golden sky. We also managed to get some great shots of the couple alone in the Marble Saloon and, a little later, outside next to the lit up pillard façade.

A full wedding breakfast followed in the Whistlejacket Stateroom, with some excellent speeches. The night ended with live music, a raucous photo booth and some energetic dancing. Big congratulations to the newlyweds, Lauren and Tom. I’m in no doubt, they’ll be very happy together. Please raise your glasses in celebration of a wonderful, joyful couple.
