Outdoor summer weddings in the UK can go either way, depending on the volatile British weather, but Dorothy and Lewis’s marriage at was a riot of roses and sunshine. The bride made her picture-perfect entrance through the botanical gardens, her beautiful long veil being held off the path by her bridesmaids.
The ceremony was a moving one, full of smiles and laughter. It was held in the doorway to the botanical gardens with the tropical plants inside the glasshouse providing a striking backdrop. Afterwards, I took some posed shots of family and friends in the grounds, as well as some relaxed reportage photographs of everyone congratulating the newly-weds.
The young bridesmaids were very well behaved, at least until the page boys decided it was their turn to hold the posies. Lewis, Dorothy and I then went for a walk to get some bride and groom portraits. There was plenty of interesting scenery at this venue explore.
At Woodthorpe Hall the reception venue; a huge, balloon-filled tipi, the guests enjoyed a meal, speeches and a cake table, overflowing with delicious-looking fancies. I took a few more photos outside afterwards as the sun started to make its way towards the horizon, causing a dappled sunlight effect underneath the trees.
Lawn games such as bowls, giant jenga and croquet were laid out for guests to enjoy, while the happy couple walked through a field of waist-high grass to admire the view of the sunset over the fields. I was honoured to be part of this idyllic wedding and would like to wish this Dorothy and Lewis all the very best in their married life together.
