Peckforton Castle Wedding - Nichola & Tom

Posted on 25th January 2018 by Mark Tierney

Peckforton castle has the wow factor and that’s where Tom and Nichola exchanged their wedding vows last year. When you approach this venue from a distance, you can’t help but marvel at the turrets, stone walls and flags flying high. It’s a beautiful sight. The interior is no less grand; adorned as it is with stag heads, traditional swords and, on this auspicious occasion, far eastern fans and game tiles.

The couple exchanged their vows in the beautiful flower-filled Great Hall before sealing the deal with a kiss on the red carpet. After drinks and canapés were served, we took a combination of posed family photos and reportage shots out on the lawn before going out for a little walk; just the newlyweds and I, to get some bride and groom portraits.

There are some truly beautiful corners in this magical venue, such as the tall archways, picturesque paths that are symmetrically lined by tall, leafy trees and crumbling brick walls that offer a very rustic backdrop. Of course, the way Tom and Nichola looked at one another throughout the day brilliantly set the scene as well. It was the perfect romantic venue choice for such a romantic wedding.

During the wedding breakfast, guests sat around impressively tall centrepieces, expertly decorated with hundreds of red roses, to eat and listen to the speeches. The best man’s slideshow story was particularly entertaining.

I took a few more photos of the new husband and wife after the meal, this time using the interior of Peckforton Castle as the backdrop. In the half-light, this huge building had a cosy, intimate feel. This was a very memorable wedding to photograph and I’d like to raise another glass to the happy couple, who were a pleasure to photograph. All the very best – Nichola and Tom!
