Hathersage Church & The Maynard - Vicki & Tom

Posted on 17th November 2017 by Mark Tierney

Not even a damp day with dark, dramatic storm skies could veil the brightness given off by this brilliant bride and groom team!

The ceremony was held at Hathersage Church in the Peak District with its beautiful stone interior. As touching vow exchanges go, this was in my top 10! Vicki & Tom couldn't keep their eyes off one another, almost as if neither of them couldn't quite believe their good luck!

A colourful celebration of confetti followed outside, although the umbrellas did little to stop the paper from getting wet. Then we made our way to the reception venue; The Maynard, a cosy, welcoming sight in such bleak weather.

As the guests travelled in the shiny London bus to the Maynard, the newlyweds climbed into their VW campervan and posed for a few bride and groom portraits on a picturesque precipice. When Vicki's veil blew away in the gale (twice), her new husband scrambled gallantly to get it back for her; probably a relief as I'm guessing her bridal shoes were less nimble on those rocks.

Back at the reception venue, we took as many posed family portraits outside as we could before the inclement weather forced us to seek refuge inside, where we finished up. Drinks and canapés were enjoyed by all while this was going on, acting as a prelude to the meal and speeches.

Both Tom's speech after the wedding breakfast and Vicki's speech ahead of the dancing, were very emotional affairs. Here is a couple who clearly think the world of one another, as well as of their friends and family. I managed to squeeze in a few more couple portraits outside during a lull in the rain.

Here's a couple who certainly know how to throw a few shapes on the dancefloor too. Congratulations Tom and Vicki. I feel privileged to have been part of your special day.
