Wood Lane Countryside Centre, Sheffield - Danielle & Dave

Posted on 16th October 2014 by Mark Tierney

Dave and Danielle's big day took place at Woodlane Countryside Centre in Sheffield and was a true labour of love. Their simple DIY wedding was among one of the most beautiful and joyous occasions I've ever been fortunate enough to photograph, despite it also being one of the rainiest. I've been trying to put my finger on the magic ingredient that made this marriage so special and I think it probably boils down to the fact that Dave and Danielle make such a brilliant, smiley couple, They unwittingly managed to inject an infectiously hearty atmosphere into proceedings despite the inclement weather.

Unique elements of the day such as a proliferation of pretty wooden planters, and the fact that bride and groom not only set the reception room tables but also helped prepare the food, only served to enhance everyone's enjoyment of the event. Given that the couple had their work cut out, it's impressive that the only problem either of them appeared to face was when the tableplan decided it wasn't going to direct the guests to their seats. It was its only job! Even the rain had stopped by the end of the day, allowing us to get a single shot of blue sky.

Following a very tasty meal, several giant jenga challenges and a skirt twirling contest between bride and bridesmaid, there were some very lively speeches and even livelier dancing. Once the newlyweds hit the dance floor, there was just no stopping them! A tremendous day provided by a tremendous couple. Guys, you're a hard act to follow! Wishing you all the very best in your new life together.
