St Wilfrids Church & Craven Arms, Burnsall - Sophie & Rob

Posted on 19th October 2016 by Mark Tierney

When it rains on your wedding day, sure, your schedule might be blown out, but if your contingency plan is good enough, you can turn that romantic rolling mist to your advantage (certainly when it comes to the photos anyway!)

Armed with umbrellas, we headed for Sophie and Rob's exquisitely beautiful big day. With such an aesthetic eye and careful planning at work, it was clear this was going to be an exceptional occasion.

Sophie made her way up the long aisle of St Winifred's Church to join Rob and their glowing smiles at one another lit the whole room. It was magical to watch. We took a few couple shots in the churchyard afterwards, but given the weather, everyone was eager to head for the reception venue; The Craven Arms in Burnsall.

Here, the hay bales had been moved inside, with pretty, pastel napkins laid over the top. Guests set about playing all manner of board games, after helping themselves to snacks from the beer and pie table, all the while being entertained by a live 1940s and Vintage band.

Sophie & Rob’s huge and magnificent dog Frank, was also in attendance and quite a character. Nothing was going to stop this faithful hound from kissing the bride, regardless of the dangerous combination of enormous dog paws and delicate, lace wedding gown!

Speeches followed, ahead of the meal. As touching as they all were, the father of the bride's speech was a real show-stealer, accompanied as it was by images of Sophie as a young girl. We then took a few group shots, some family shots and it was time to hit the beautifully decorated cosy and autumnal sheep-themed dining room.

After eating and cutting the cake, we grabbed a huge, white wedding umbrella and tried to grab a few couple shots outdoors. The backdrop was stunning, despite the moisture; dreamy, rural and romantic with a clear, flattering light. Sophie and Rob both looked radiant.

The night ended as all good nights should - with drinking and dancing. I'd like to raise a glass to Rob and Sophie; a fabulous couple, whose marriage was an utter joy for everyone present.
