Sheffield Town Hall Wedding - Laura & Ant

Posted on 30th October 2020 by Mark Tierney

Remember the time before Covid when you could celebrate a wedding with friends & family, without all these restrictions.... Hopefully, things will improve for everyone in 2021?? Here is a pre-Covid wedding, my first one of 2020, shot way back in February:

All weddings are special but Laura and Ant’s hip, colourful, Sheffield wedding had an added surprise. They chose their big day to announce to all their family and friends that Laura was expecting a baby. Fast forward 6 months and they’re now parents to a beautiful baby boy!

Not that you would have known Laura was expecting on the day! In her dress and biker jacket, trailed across the city by her stunning bridesmaids, the wedding party certainly made a cinematic entrance to their venue; Sheffield Town Hall. The ceremony was very touching and followed by joyful congratulations in the lobby area.

I took some posed photos in and around the grand staircase, as well as some bride and groom portraits. Ant and Laura then came for a walk with me, while their guests enjoyed the nibbles, so we could get some relaxed portraits, set against the striking backdrop of Sheffield’s steel and mirror facades.

There was plenty of sunshine, but as we walked back for the reception, past the green spaces, and the fountains, the sun got very low in the sky, giving us a nice contrast and some interesting shadows and sun flare.

Back at the Town Hall, everyone celebrated the union with a hearty meal and some emotional speeches! There was a lot of love and laughter in the room.

Just before the cutting of the cake and then hitting the dance floor, I went on another short walk outside with the newlyweds. Huge fans of Sheffield’s entertainment venues (as you can see from their table plan) we took a few pictures next to the Crucible Theatre.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable wedding and I’d like to raise a glass to the happy couple and wish them all the very best in their new life together as a family.

Thanks to my friend Chris Thornton for seconding shooting for me:
