I have just found out that I have had an image shortlisted for the Professional Photographer of The Year Awards 2009 which is run by ‘The Professional Photographer Magazine’. The image chosen was entered in the editorial category. To enter this category you had to have an image commissioned by an editorial publication, book or magazine. The image I entered was taken on Stanage Edge in the Peak District. I captured the movement of two mountain bikers riding along the gritstone rocks.
The image was used for the front cover of the Derbyshire Gold Magazine. I was commissioned by Moose Design which is a graphic design company, Moose Design is based in Dronfield, Derbyshire.
It’s the second year running that I have been shortlisted. I entered the Professional Photographer of The Year Awards 2008 and one of my landscape images was also shortlisted. This photograph was taken at Ponce Inlet, Florida, USA. The image shows the break water rocks at the end of the Ponce Inlet Jetty, taken at sunrise.
Most of my surfing shots on my website (see Surfing USA gallery) were taken to the left of this jetty. It is a very popular stretch of coastline for surfing in the Daytona area. Apparently the rocks create bigger waves for the surfers. I am hoping to get back to Florida next year and take some more surfing shots as I love watching surfers and of course photographing them too!
