Sandra and Graham's wedding was a pleasure to photograph and I'm not just saying that because we are friends! Having been together for a long time, it was really special for all us to witness the couple’s marriage finally taking place. There were high expectations and the bride and groom did not disappoint. Their happiness on the day filled the room and it was infectious!
The wedding took place in two parts. The first part was a formal family ceremony in the beautiful hall and then, two days later the couple held an evening buffet for their friends. I was very privileged to be the one with the responsibility for collecting the bride from her room. We took a few photos and had a chat about wedding procedure in general before it was time for the vows.
Following the ceremony, I concentrated on taking photos of the newly-weds and their guests in a naturalistic setting, as they enjoyed drinks and canapés together. It was important to the couple that they enjoyed their big day with those present, rather than concentrate on having photos taken of just the two of them, away from their guests.
With the weather on its best behaviour, there was no need for the wedding umbrellas that had been brought along to the venue and we even get managed to get some shots in the sunshine, outside in the grounds. The manicured gardens at Hodsock were very impressive, as was the exquisite white wedding cake. Sandra and Graham know how thrilled I am to have been involved in their marriage so let me simply raise a glass and announce sincerely, I wish them all the best!
