Craven Arms Cruck Barn Wedding, Yorkshire Dales - Laurel & Lee

Posted on 19th February 2018 by Mark Tierney

When you think of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, you picture big dramatic skies, stone walls and picturesque bridges set against beautiful rolling green hills. Laurel and Lee’s wedding at the Craven Arms Cruck Barn did not disappoint! The Autumn leaves hung heavy over the water, creating a beautiful backdrop and the interior of the bar had a contrastingly cosy, warm and intimate vibe. With the weather on their side, the soon to be newlyweds were already off to a flying start.

As the bride got out of the car to make her big entrance, the sun poured through the clouds, lighting her way. The ceremony was very moving and was followed by celebratory hugs and drinks. I took a lot of reportage shots of relaxed guests enjoying themselves outside in the sunshine, as well as a few posed portraits. It warm enough for the canapés to be served outside too.

Determined to make the most of the stunning light, Laurel, Lee and I went for a short walk to get a few bride and groom portraits, with the country backdrop behind them. Then it was time to return to the venue for a meal, speeches and toasts.

As the sun set that night, it turned the sky pink. The cutting of the cake was followed by the first dance and inevitably the turn of the guests to hit the dance floor. A good time was had by all at the disco, with the shapes being thrown getting wilder with the arrival of the band on stage. I’d like to raise a glass to Laurel and Lee!
