A very important question you need to ask yourself is what style of wedding photography you prefer. The days of just posed shots are long gone. Virtually all the couples I meet prefer the reportage/journalistic style of wedding photography. I am always looking to capture those special moments throughout the day, particularly the emotional moments that may go unnoticed by the bride and groom. I love taking the couple away from the wedding party for a short time capturing the passion of the newlywed couple for some stylish portraits. If you are an adventurous couple I will even take you to a nearby beauty spot to capture some unique artistic images for your wedding album!

Do you want your wedding album to look like everybody else’s or do you want a photographer who is creative and will make your wedding photos individual to you? You will find I am a very meticulous photographer using a range of camera lenses and various lighting tools. This ensures that every wedding will be completely individual, tailored the couple’s own preference. With Tierney Photography you will never find silly gimmicks or cheesy staged photography. Before any wedding I will thoroughly research the area in order to achieve the best out of the environment – a skill I have developed whilst shooting landscape photography.

I always offer a pre-wedding/engagement shoot. It is a great way to get to know one another and how I work. If you feel comfortable having your photographs taken on your wedding day this will go a long way to having beautiful images that you will treasure. An engagement shoot is a good time to explain to the photographer if you feel uncomfortable having certain shots like having side profile photographs or even practice some unusual ideas you have thought of for your wedding day.

What happens if it rains all day? I have portable lighting in case of bad weather or in case of a low light indoor location? You want to be sure to hire someone who is prepared for any eventuality. If the bride and groom are prepared to go outside in the rain you can capture some unique images for their wedding album. I take several large umbrellas to weddings to hand out to the married couple and a few guests.

If you find the right wedding photographer who is passionate about their work, you'll be able to enjoy the moments for many years in photographs that capture the excitement, love, and passion of your wedding day.
