Winter Snow, The Big Freeze in South Yorkshire

1st December 2010

I’ve just been for a quick walk in the wood behind my house and it’s the deepest snow I have ever seen! The roads are covered in knee deep snow in places and there are cars abandoned everywhere. My wife who is a nurse at Jessops hospital in Sheffield had to sleep there last night because of the heavy snow and ice causing travel chaos on the roads. I don’t think she will be home tonight either looking at the weather forecast :( My daughter hasn’t been to school for two days because of the school closures, but she is loving the snow!

Update: My wife Nicky made it home after spending 55 hours at work! My daughter has been off school for 4 days now.

Check out another winter blog post from the first big freeze of 2010 taken in January at Roche Abbey in Rotherham.
